TSMC is deeply committed to the principle of "Leaving No One Behind," actively encouraging employees across all sites and subsidiaries to engage in volunteer services that make a meaningful impact. To support this commitment, TSMC provides regular employees one day of volunteer leave each year. In addition to facilities in Taiwan consistently contributing to society through long-term practical actions, overseas subsidiaries have also actively promoted volunteer activities. In 2024, overseas subsidiaries organized 328 volunteer events, with 2,316 participants collectively contributing approximately 6,117.5 service hours. Starting in 2025, employees will be able to use their annual volunteer leave to participate in joint volunteering activities either organized or co-organized by TSMC or external organizations. To deepen the connections between overseas subsidiaries and their local communities and environments, TSMC works with subsidiaries to establish volunteer leave application guidelines that comply with local regulations. This initiative aims to magnify public service efforts, injecting greater vitality and capacity into community engagement while fostering positive and meaningful change.

Three Main Volunteer Service Areas: Acting on the Value of Common Good

TSMC's overseas subsidiaries have taken proactive steps to address local needs and align with public service trends by volunteer efforts in three key focus areas: community engagement, environmental protection, and educational empowerment. Through diverse and locally tailored activities, TSMC actively contributes to society with meaningful and impactful actions. In community engagement, Japan Advanced Semiconductor Manufacturing, Inc. (JASM) hosted its inaugural "JASM Smile Day" at Semicon Techno Park Central Park in Kikuyo Town, Kumamoto. This event served as an expression of gratitude to both local residents and the families of JASM employees, fostering a sense of connection and appreciation. Over 5,000 local residents attended, engaging in interactive activities. Additionally, 155 JASM employees participated in exhibitions showcasing semiconductor manufacturing processes and environmental initiatives, further strengthening mutual understanding and interaction with the community.

In environmental protection, demonstrating a commitment to preserving local ecosystems, employees and their families from TSMC Washington, LLC participated in a cleanup initiative around Lacamas Lake near their office. Their efforts resulted in the removal of 90 kilograms of trash and the extraction of non-native plants, reducing environmental harm and promoting ecological balance in the area.

In educational empowerment, TSMC Nanjing employees organized "Fun Technology Classes" for fifth to eighth graders at Wu Jiang School in Pukou District. These classes were designed to spark curiosity and inspire a passion for technology among young students. Employees prepared engaging materials on semiconductor knowledge and taught interactive lessons, fostering a spirit of exploration and laying groundwork for cultivating future innovative talent.

Participating in volunteer activities has profoundly highlighted the dual value of altruism and personal growth. In particular, engaging with the elderly has prompted me to reflect deeply on my attitude toward my own family, fostering greater empathy. I sincerely hope that all elderly individuals can enjoy a healthy and joyful life.

We were clearing large forgotten items and overgrown brush by the lakeside. Through everyone’s efforts, we have made it easier for the park’s crew to maintain the space and created more room for visitors.
