TSMC Charity Foundation introduces "Aging Community Care Model" to enhance elderly health promotion.

With the goal of uplifting the society, the TSMC Charity Foundation actively tracks social trends. In response to the aging population and the increasing demand for long-term care services, the Foundation has leveraged the “Network of Compassion” to provide medical services, meal delivery, and transportation for the elderly. Additionally, in collaboration with the Network of Compassion’s long-term partners, the Foundation introduced the “Aging Community Care Model,” which integrates resources from enterprises, hospitals/academic institutions, and social welfare organizations to invest in community care. This initiative aims to establish a comprehensive and stable local support system to meet diverse care needs. In 2024, the Foundation plans to further expand resource allocation, rallying TSMC suppliers to participate in care activities. For the first time, the Foundation also shared its model implementation experiences with scholars from Japan and Singapore at international conferences, deepening efforts to promote elderly health and quality of life.

Integrating Resources to Care for the Community and Achieving Triple-win Outcomes

With the rapid growth of the elderly population in Taiwan, the demand for medical and long-term care services is increasing each year. The TSMC Charity Foundation and its partners have continuously provided resources in response to the Ministry of Health and Welfare's "Long-term Care Plan 2.0." In order to establish a community care service system, since 2022, the Foundation has collaborated with Gandau Hospital and National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University to set up community-based "Smart Fitness Clubs for Seniors." These clubs incorporate volunteer support from TSMC to create exercise models and spaces tailored to the needs of the elderly. By 2024, the scope of corporate involvement in aging community care will be expanded, connecting TSMC suppliers with Chang Gung Memorial Hospital and National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University to launch "Intergenerational AI Learning." This initiative uses interactive AI dynamic measurement and coordination game apps to assist the elderly in physical assessments and limb exercises, enhancing health awareness and mobility.

We appreciate the TSMC Charity Foundation for promoting the elderly community care model. It led us to use technology expertise to serve the elderly and strengthen parent-child relationship, which has been inspiring.

Promoting Local Healthcare through International Sharing

To extend the impact of common good, the TSMC Charity Foundation shared the model and its implementation experiences at the 2024 ICAH-NCGG-TMIG Annual Conference and the Taiwan-Singapore Conference for Healthy Longevity Communities. Additionally, the Foundation conducted exchanges with local government units, hospitals, and universities in Kumamoto Prefecture, Japan. The Foundation looks forward to integrating resources from our subsidiary, Japan Advanced Semiconductor Manufacturing, Inc. (JASM), and other enterprises, to enhance health promotion in local aging communities. This initiative not only provides employees with a sense of value through volunteer services but also strengthens social engagement capabilities, making effort to achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

By introducing the model to Kumamoto, our hopes are to connect local resources for employee care and to share our experience with sustainable aging societies with more enterprises overseas.
