TSMC leverages the TSMC ESG AWARD as a central platform to advance sustainability, encouraging colleagues worldwide to propose ideas aligned with the Company's five ESG directions. This initiative recognizes ESG achievements and aims to create a positive impact to society. In its fifth year, the 2024 TSMC ESG AWARD continued with engaging activities like "Discover Your True Calling in ESG" and "ESG Parkour." The AWARD also featured a 5th anniversary online special exhibition hall, as well as showcasing innovative ideas and the stories behind them at a physical event, underscoring TSMC's commitment to sustainability.
To enhance collaboration with supply chain partners, a supplier zone was introduced at this year's Poster Exhibition, displaying exemplary proposals and inviting supplier participation to strengthen industry sustainability. The 2024 ESG AWARD attracted 853,124 visits and received 4,330 proposals, marking a 36.8% increase from last year. Over the years, a total of 11,418 proposals have been submitted, driving positive change.
I'm glad to see TSMC colleagues integrating ESG into their work, reducing resource waste, and giving back to society. I look forward to more contributions to sustainable development in the future.
Innovation Workshop: Enhancing Proposal Quality
To promote a sustainable culture across TSMC’s domestic and international organizations, the 2024 TSMC ESG AWARD expanded its promotional activities to include Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, English, and Japanese. TSMC also enlarged the ESG coordinators’ training camp and held special communication sessions for overseas organizations to enhance global participation and multicultural integration. This year, the ESG AWARD proposal writing workshop was launched for the first time. Based on Design Thinking methodologies and incorporating TSMC ESG AWARD evaluation criteria and real case studies, the workshop guides colleagues to discover potential improvement opportunities in their work and develop creativity and logical organization skills, enhancing the quality of proposal writing. Additionally, to motivate outstanding colleagues to join ESG efforts, TSMC has established a talent pool of past award winners and invited them to serve as preliminary judges, bringing diverse professional perspectives to the evaluation process and uncovering more proposals with sustainable value.
In my role focused on TSMC’s resource recovery management, I continuously seek environmental improvements. The Company's support for ESG motivates us to contribute to a sustainable future.
Encouraged by the TSMC ESG AWARD, we are actively seeking ways to improve our work. Sharing experiences between Taiwan and Japan helps us enhance waste management technologies.
The TSMC ESG AWARD taps into the sustainable talents of employees to boost the Company's competitive edge. Post-award, winning AMAZING IDEAS proposals undergo feasibility evaluation and are implemented, with progress monitored each quarter by TSMC's ESG committee. Out of 80 proposals from the first four rounds, 67 have passed feasibility checks, with 47 completed and 20 in progress, enhancing sustainability efforts.
