As a leading global provider of semiconductor technology and capacity, TSMC is committed to empowering innovation and exploring the infinite possibilities of technology. TSMC manages its actions and results through its five sustainability roles, based on five ESG directions. The latest TSMC 2024 Sustainability Report shows how the Company has gained insight into global trends and industry dynamics over the past year, integrated its philosophy of responsible business into operations, and worked with stakeholders to create positive changes in the three dimensions of economy, environment, and society to create a new chapter of inclusiveness and common good.
TSMC builds a responsible and sustainable future, harnessing technology, expertise, and passion to elevate human welfare and safeguard our ecological environment hand in hand with our stakeholders.
In response to global sustainability regulations and trends, TSMC is strengthening ESG governance structures and internal control mechanisms and strives to contribute to a resilient, inclusive, and shared future for all.
Disclosing Sustainability Culture Strategy for the First Time to Expand the Influence of Sustainable Governance
To foster internal consensus and encourage full engagement in ESG initiatives, the 2024 Sustainability Report discloses for the first time how TSMC has adopted the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) "Learning Compass 2030" framework to develop its internal sustainability culture strategy. This includes launching a series of empowerment actions aimed at enhancing employees' sustainability literacy, equipping them with transformational management skills to address future challenges, and shaping a comprehensive corporate sustainability culture.
In addition, TSMC has further integrated its ESG Implementation Framework with the concept of Double Materiality, extending its sustainability governance structure to encompass financial materiality by evaluating four key factors: Revenue Growth, Customer Satisfaction, Employee Cohesion, and Operational Risk. At the same time, the Company has adopted the OECD framework "Measuring Business Impacts on People's Well-being and Sustainability" to assess impacts of value chain activities on eight dimensions of wellbeing: Health, Social Connections, Environment Quality, Subjective Wellbeing, Jobs and Earnings, Work-Life Balance, Income and Wealth, Education and Skills. This approach aims to strengthen corporate operations and financial performance, creating shared sustainability value.
