24/7 Chinese Service Hotline Providing Dedicated Care to over 2,000 Assignees and Their Families
TSMC enhances employee physical and mental care through comprehensive health management. To address the growing needs arising from TSMC's global expansion in recent years, the Company has established a dedicated "Overseas Assignee Health Management Team" to care for its employees stationed abroad. With the number of overseas assignees, business travelers, and trainees now exceeding 2,000, this initiative aims to meet their diverse health needs by focusing on three key areas: medical resource assistance, health check-up tracking and management, and occupational injury and illness prevention. TSMC has created a global health network by integrating resources from domestic and overseas Wellness Centers, corporate group insurance, partner hospitals, and international medical assistance providers. This network offers round-the-clock support for assignees and their families, including medical consultations, hospital visits, and follow-up services. In 2024, the Overseas Assignee Health Management Team successfully assisted an assignee in Japan, enabling recovery and a return to work following local treatment. Looking ahead to 2025, TSMC plans to expand the scope of these services to cover its operating sites in the United States and Germany, ensuring robust health management for a growing number of assignees and their families worldwide.
Overseas Health Management: Safeguarding the Rights and Well-Being of Assignees Abroad
The physical and mental health of overseas assignees and their families is a top priority for TSMC. To enhance awareness and encourage employees to utilize the Company’s comprehensive healthcare services, the Overseas Assignee Health Management Team has organized multiple informational sessions. Recognizing the differences in cultural backgrounds, medical practices, and accessibility across various operational sites, the team has partnered with a professional international medical assistance agency to establish a dedicated 24-hour Mandarin service hotline exclusively for TSMC. This hotline offers a range of services, such as Mandarin medical consultations, hospital and physician recommendations, appointment scheduling assistance , doctor-patient communication support, medical report interpretation, medical transfers, and psychological counseling. Through these initiatives, TSMC aims to build a comprehensive transnational health support system.
To accommodate local regulations, language barriers, employee needs, and follow-up requirements, the Overseas Assignee Health Management Team provides flexible health check-up options for overseas assignees. Assignees can choose to complete their health check-ups at their assignment location or during vacations in Taiwan, ensuring seamless continuity and integration of health management throughout their assignment period. In the event of suspected occupational injuries and illnesses, the Overseas Assignee Health Management Team prioritizes addressing the issue based on the legal standards of the assigned country. As overseas assignees remain insured under Taiwan's Labor Occupational Accident Insurance, cases that do not qualify for compensation under local labor insurance can still be reviewed under Taiwan’s labor-related regulations. Additional support measures include recovery leave arrangements, assistance with work adjustments, and guidance on commercial insurance options. These efforts ensure that the rights and well-being of overseas assignees are properly safeguarded.
