TSMC's "Accessibility-friendly Workplace Workshop" promotes understanding of persons with disabilities and improves interaction among colleagues.

To create a diverse and inclusive workplace, TSMC has launched a six-month “Accessible Workplace Experience Camp” to strengthen the recruitment and development of talents with disabilities. The program involves occupational therapist in the recruitment process and job redesign to accelerate the integration of talents with disabilities into the workplace and enhance their practical skills. In 2024, TSMC hired seven outstanding members, and at the same time, introduced the “Accessibility-friendly Workplace Workshop” to deepen colleagues' understanding and respect for employees with disabilities and improve interaction skills. As of April, eight sessions with 166 participants have been completed, reflecting the value of diversity in the workplace.

Job Redesign Helps Talents with Disabilities Develop in a Suitable Way

Unleashing the potential of diverse talents is an important strategy for TSMC to provide an inclusive workplace. In 2023, TSMC planned the “Accessible Workplace Experience Camp” to recruit more talents with disabilities and create a friendly working environment. Occupational therapists conducted interviews, assessed candidates' professional abilities and disability status, evaluated suitable positions, and collaborated with cross-organizations to optimize accessibility facilities in the Fab and dormitory areas. After completing the interview and onboarding process, the members underwent job redesign based on their unique abilities and needs. This included adjusting their work environment/workflow, and providing assistive devices to help them fully realize their potential. Continuous care and follow-up were provided by HR partners to manage the members' adaptation and the supervisor's job arrangements to achieve a suitable development for each member.

Correct Attitude and Interaction Skills Enhance Effective Cooperation

In addition to attracting talents with disabilities to join TSMC, the Company has also launched the “Accessibility-friendly Workplace Workshop” to improve colleagues’ awareness of diversity and inclusion. The workshop was led by an occupational therapist. It focused on “the attitude and interaction skills of working with employees with disabilities,” and used small workshops to establish correct concepts and knowledge among colleagues and design experience activities to understand the action of people with physical disabilities, and the reading methods of visually impaired people. Colleagues can learn the importance of thinking from their perspective and the significance of job redesign. They also develop empathy to achieve effective cooperation with employees with disabilities.

Fostering a humanistic management culture, TSMC actively invests resources in strengthening the development of diverse talents. It plans to expand the promotion of the “Accessible Workplace Experience Camp” and hold “Accessibility-friendly Workplace Workshop” according to organizational needs. Also, the Company continuously optimizes the Fab's accessible environment, creating a friendly workplace environment that supports employees with disabilities to fully utilize their strengths and grow together with the Company, creating win-win situation.
