TSMC regards diverse talent as one of its most valuable assets. To enhance employees' understanding and application of inclusion, TSMC has developed the "Global Inclusive Workplace (GIW)" Learning Framework—B.E.A.R., rooted in its Core Values, Business Philosophy, and People Vision. As part of this initiative, the Company introduced a virtual learning ambassador, "T-Bear," who guides employees through the "T-Bear Embarks on a GIW Learning Journey" series of activities. These activities include E-Learning, experiential learning, master classes, and the use of online chat stickers to foster a spirit of inclusion in the workplace. Since its launch in May 2024, the series has engaged over 100,500 participants, achieving an average satisfaction score of 96 points, demonstrating employees' strong recognition and enthusiasm for the program.

Breaking Down the Learning Framework to Implement the Concept of Inclusion

TSMC has combined its corporate philosophy with domestic and international research to create a unique B.E.A.R. Learning Framework, translating the abstract concept of inclusion into actionable practices. The framework focuses on two key dimensions: Self-Leadership and Leading or Interacting with Others, supported by four core skills: 

•B: Build Interpersonal Trust

•E: Embrace Diverse Perspectives

•A: Adopt Two-Way Communication

•R: Realize Adaptability & Flexibility 

The framework expands these four core skills into 12 thematic areas, providing employees with a clear and practical roadmap for fostering inclusion in their daily interactions and professional environments.

To deepen employees' understanding of the B.E.A.R. Learning Framework, TSMC launched the "T-Bear Embarks on a GIW Learning Journey" series, employing a variety of engaging approaches to convey the concept of inclusion. The E-Learning series includes "TSMC Global Inclusive Workplace Introduction" and "Build up Your Inclusive Workplace Capability – B.E.A.R." These modules feature vibrant and engaging animations that bring TSMC's philosophy and the essence of the B.E.A.R framework to life. The Experiential Learning centers around the BEAR Workshop, which invites employees to create colorful fluid bear artworks by hand, offering a hands-on experience that embodies the spirit of inclusion through creativity and collaboration. The Master Classes invite renowned domestic and international speakers to share their insights on critical topics such as unconscious bias recognition, the role of psychological safety in organizational success, and effective communication and feedback frameworks. These sessions inspire employees to incorporate inclusive thinking into their professional and personal lives. Additionally, TSMC has designed interactive tools like "T-Bear Stickers" to add a playful and interactive element to online communication, fostering diverse and meaningful exchanges within the workplace.

The BEAR Workshop helped me gain a deeper understanding of the Company's inclusive workplace spirit. Inclusion is not just reflected in the vibrant colors on T-Bear--it is also an attitude that needs to be practiced daily to foster better interactions and relationships with others.
