TSMC Semiconductor Programs Offer Core Knowledge to Students to Cultivate Next-Generation Semiconductor Talents

TSMC's semiconductor programs have expanded to 6 universities in 2020. With a comprehensive curriculum plan, we provide students a smooth transition from schools to real fast-changing industry with solid knowledge foundation.
TSMC's semiconductor programs have expanded to 6 universities in 2020. With a comprehensive curriculum plan, we provide students a smooth transition from schools to real fast-changing industry with solid knowledge foundation.

With comprehensive value chain and leading manufacturing technology, Taiwan's semiconductor industry plays a critical role in global technology development. In the face of technology development and global competition and challenges, TSMC proactively cooperates with the universities to raise the quantity and quality of semiconductor talents in Taiwan.

The industry-academic cooperation program is one of the sustainable goals for TSMC's talent incubation. TSMC's semiconductor programs were initiated in the National Tsing Hua University in 2019, and then applied to National Taiwan University and four other universities in 2020 to help students seamlessly bridge knowledge they learn at schools and the real practice of the industry. Students can use what they have learnt for the increasingly complex manufacturing process.

Three Major Tracks Help Students Build Solid Foundation with Professional Knowledge

TSMC's semiconductor programs were co-designed by TSMC experts and university professors, establishing three major tracks— Device/Integration, Process/Module, and Equipment Engineering. Each track consists of 20 to 40 courses to assist students learn the core knowledge needed to work in the semiconductor industry.

Semiconductor programs are like a precious book. It helps me to start studying related courses as well as to prepare myself with necessary knowledge and ability earlier, so that I can get ready for either doing research or joining the industry.

Connecting Professional Knowledge to Actual Experiences; Offering Internship and Interview Opportunities

With TSMC's semiconductor programs, TSMC and universities cooperate to create a platform for students to bridge what they have learnt and practices. We also encourage students to explore career possibility in the semiconductor industry with internship opportunities and offer them job interviews after graduation. A competitive differentiated compensation package is offered for students completing the program with outstanding academic performance. We encourage students with solid theoretical and practical training to join the semiconductor industry. In addition to semiconductor programs, TSMC promotes diverse industry-academic cooperation projects, internship and science competitions. TSMC expects to reach the talent incubation target of having 2,000 beneficiaries in 2020.
