For the first time the sixth U Dreamer Project expanded its scope to include college students nationwide, and the number of participants hit a record high.

Through the TSMC U Dreamer Project, TSMC’s Education and Culture Foundation encourages college students to care about social issues and come up with innovative solutions. In 2021, the sixth U Dreamer Project expanded its scope to a nationwide competition for the first time, and under the theme of 'SDGs', invited students to propose sustainable projects adhering to UN’s 17 sustainable development goals. The 2021 TSMC U Dreamer Project attracted a total of 122 teams from 67 colleges and universities to participate in the event. Both the number of participating students and number of colleges reached record highs. Eleven teams made it to the final shortlist and received a total of NT$3 million to begin their one-year-long journey of U Dreamer Project.

Advanced Workshops + Tour of TSMC Boost Project Implementation

In addition to inviting professional mentors from related fields to communicate and share their experiences through TSMC’s U Dreamer workshops, the sixth U Dreamer project further designed a series of advanced classes for the shortlisted teams, assisting them to optimize the viability of their proposals. Teams were also invited to visit TSMC. During their visit, these teams had a chance to know TSMC’s ESG vision and the actions the company takes to fulfill green manufacturing and environmental sustainability, thereby drawing more inspirations from TSMC’s practices. TSMC’s Education and Culture Foundation will hold the midterm and final project presentations in March and September respectively in 2022, aiming to encourage teams to learn from one another, share their execution experiences and increase the impact of sustainable development.
