The company actively practices reforestation, environmental education, and ecological restoration programs to achieve net zero deforestation, no net loss of nature and biodiversity, and net positive impact by 2050.
TSMC adopts the "Avoidance, Minimization, Restoration, and Offset" approach to mitigate impacts, takes corresponding actions, and reviews progress through internal sustainability governance mechanisms to fulfill its commitments.

Firefly Restoration Program

Fireflies are an indicator species for clean, unpolluted environments. Since 2008, TSMC has been creating an environment suitable for the breeding of fireflies, and experts have introduced them to Hsinchu, Taichung, and other facilities in Taiwan starting from 2019. By fostering an eco-friendly plant environment, TSMC is fulfilling its commitment to strengthening environmental protection.

TSMC Honey Project

TSMC Honey Project

In 2024, TSMC launched the "TSMC Honey Project," to restore habitats for bees, crucial pollinators for plant propagation. This initiative involves collaboration with Tunghai University's Department of Life Sciences and local beekeepers from the Hsinchu, Taichung, and Tainan areas. Restoration bases have been established at Fab 12 Phase 8, Fab 14B, Fab 15A, Fab 15B, and Fab 18B. TSMC is also promoting environmental education through family day events across various fabs to build a deeper understanding of ecological conservation.

Coexist with Nature


Since 2021, TSMC has implemented the Plant-A-Tree Program in counties and cities where its fabs are located. By afforesting previously unvegetated public spaces and planting trees along the coastline to form windbreak corridors, the initiative has helped shape livable surroundings while expanding habitats and migration routes for wildlife.
