TSMC Launches "Supplier Fire Protection Autonomous Training Program" to Further Optimize Factory Safety
Supply chain sustainability is a key part of TSMC's five ESG directions. With the aim of improving the safety level of suppliers' factories and avoiding interruption of material supply caused by fires, TSMC created an industry-leading fire protection sustainability management mechanism as the basis for key suppliers to set up dedicated fire protection personnel and allocate training resources to develop their professional capabilities. The "Supplier Fire Protection Autonomous Training Program", launched in 2022, uses five steps to help suppliers establish a training model in their own factories to strengthen suppliers’ own fire protection planning ability and fire protection management. In March 2023, with the goal of fostering sustainability and resilience, an interactive online course "Deficiencies in Suppliers’ Fire Safety Audits and Improvement Measures" was offered to provide domestic and international suppliers with greater flexibility in training to continuously enhance fire safety management and equipment reliability.
Continuous Optimization of TSMC Supplier Fire Protection Management
Assisting Suppliers in Creating Training Models to Strengthen Fire Prevention Management
During the S.H.A.R.P. audit, TSMC found that some suppliers’ fire protection personnel had insufficient knowledge of their own firefighting equipment. In an effort to optimize suppliers’ self-management ability, in 2022, TSMC initiated a supplier fire protection autonomous training program. Through the five steps of devising outline, planning training content, arranging independent training, providing on-site counseling and reporting outcome, TSMC assists suppliers in the establishment of a self-directed training and management mechanism that offers internal fire protection training instead of external training, which not only improves knowledge of fire protection equipment but also increases the number of supplier personnel who can participate.

Mixed Reality Simulations of Disaster Scenarios Optimize Training Outcome
In addition to promoting autonomous training programs, TSMC continues to provide external resources to enhance suppliers' fire protection management. With the goal of offering a more comprehensive introduction to fire protection equipment and increase opportunities for dedicated personnel to receive practical training experience, in 2022, TSMC collaborated with academic institutions to devise practical training content with fire department instructors carrying out the practical elements of the programs. Mixed reality technology is incorporated into the training to simulate disasters, and participants must extinguish fires in realistic scenarios to pass and achieve the optimum training outcome.
Practical Training for TSMC Supplier Fire Protection Personnel

I would like to thank TSMC for providing innovative fire protection practical training and leading suppliers to develop their own training content and capabilities that fit the needs of their personnel. This not only strengthens suppliers’ fire protection expertise but also improves the overall disaster prevention capability in the factory.
In keeping with the goal of strengthening the sustainability management of the supply chain, TSMC not only promotes the supplier fire protection autonomous training program, but also continuously updates the scope of fire protection management according to the latest technology advancements. In 2023, practical training will include solar panels, energy storage equipment, electric vehicle fire response, and inert gas extinguishing equipment. Tabletop exercises will also be incorporated into the fire response training workshops to improve supplier autonomous safety management. TSMC is dedicated to jointly creating an operating model that is environmentally and socially responsible.
